The Iowa Trombones began in the late 80's and continues to be a well attended informative event for all trombone enthusiasts.

The Iowa Trombones is a group of trombone enthusiasts who gather at the University of Northern Iowa on the third Thursday of July to talk and learn about trombones and trombone music. Most of the day is spent rehearsing Trombone Choir music. That evening the Iowa Trombones perform at the Waterloo Municipal Band concert. The event is open to trombonists of any age.
